Rupee falls to 49.04 against dollar

Continuing its weakness for the fourth straight day, the Indian rupee on Friday depreciated by another 28 paise to an one-week low against the greenback in early trade on increased dollar demand from refiners and a widening trade deficit.At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the domestic currency traded lower at 49.04 against the US currency, a fall of 27 paise over the previous close of 48.76/78 a dollar amid absence of any cues from global markets due to new year holidays.Yesterday, the rupee moved in the range of 48.46 to 48.85 before finishing 7 paise lower at 48.76/78.Dealers said heavy dollar demand from refiners and importers and widening trade deficit mainly put pressure on the Indian currency.India's exports declined by 9.9 per cent in November 2008, posting a negative growth for the second month running under the impact of a slowdown in major global markets.Exports dropped to USD 11.5 billion in November this fiscal, from USD 12.7 billion a year ago while imports grew by 6.1 per cent to USD 21.5 billion, leaving a monthly trade deficit of USD 10 billion.

Yahoo unveils new toolbar for Web browsing

Yahoo unveiled a new toolbar on Monday that will give Web users access to their e-mail as they surf the Web, the latest step in its strategy to make its products more open to users and third parties.Firefox, Yahoo, Microsoft and others make toolbars -- small strips that sit atop Web browsers -- to give users quicker and easier access to Internet functions.The Yahoo toolbar available later this week will allow users access to a selected group of programs from the toolbar without leaving the page they are on.For example, users get notifications of new e-mails on the toolbar and can open them. Its portal relies on advertising and the company says it has an audience of more than 500 million consumers.As is usual with Yahoo, the changes are being phased in slowly and later will be rolled out for all of its users.The company is continuing to pursue its open strategy as it is in the middle of a transition. It is looking for a new chief executive to replace Jerry Yang, who has resigned. It also has notified 1,500 employees that they are being laid off.

IT sector faces uncertain 4-6 quarters : Nasscom

Uncertainty in India's export-focused software sector will continue for the next four to six quarters due to deepening global economic turmoil, the sector's lobby group said on Tuesday."At this point in time, we're getting mixed signals," Som Mittal, president of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom), said on the sidelines of a technology conference."Very clearly, the decision-making is slow at this time."In September, Nasscom said it would revise its growth projection for the sector, which was forecast to expand 21-24 per cent to about $50 billion in the year to March 2009.

My life in College

Here comes an essay about my college life. I am one of those who entered my college with lots of dreams and imaginations of having a bright future. But I gained only disappointment. I was more eager to succeed in studies. But I was suppressed in many ways. One of them is the language. Oh my god, what a pity!!! English turned my life to a worst situation. The whole class shared everything in english which made me bunk the class. The only place left for me was my hostel. Its really miracle to have such a wonderful place in my college. It was a real heaven. I enjoyed as much I suffered in my college. I lost my life by playing games. I thought I was playing games, but games played with my life.

Degree Stopping Paper - DSP

One of the difficult papers for engineering students is DSP(Digital Signal Processing). For this reason it is called as degree stopping paper among the students. Almost most of the people who have arrears even after four years of engineering studies would have not cleared DSP. I too did not clear the paper in the first attempt. The paper will be problematic. Have to memorize a lots of formula and there comes the difficulty in clearing the paper. My opinion is to try to put a bit more effort and clear it in the first attempt itself.
